Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Deal Dibs ("the App," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when a merchant installs the App on their Shopify store, and when a shopper uses the App's price-watch feature on that store.

01Who this applies to

This policy covers two groups:

  • Merchants who install Deal Dibs on their Shopify store.
  • Shoppers (customers) who use Deal Dibs to set a target price on a product in a merchant's store.

02Information we collect

From merchants, via the Shopify API, when the App is installed:

  • Store name, domain, and store ID
  • Store owner contact information (name, email)
  • Product and pricing data needed for the App to function

From shoppers, when they set a "dibs" (price watch):

  • Name and email address (or the customer account information provided through Shopify)
  • The product(s) they are watching and their target price
  • Order information once an automatic checkout is triggered

What we do not collect: we do not collect or store payment card numbers or other sensitive payment credentials. Automatic checkouts are completed using the shopper's existing saved payment method on file with Shopify (e.g., Shop Pay). Deal Dibs never has direct access to card details.

03How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Monitor product prices and compare them against a shopper's target price
  • Automatically place an order through Shopify's checkout on the shopper's behalf once their target price is met
  • Send advance notice to the shopper before an automatic order is placed
  • Provide merchants with visibility into active price watches on their store
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App

04Third-party sharing

We share limited information with the following third parties, solely to operate the App:

  • Shopify — as the platform the App operates on, for product, order, and store data.
  • Twilio — used to send transactional notifications (such as advance notice before an automatic order is placed). Twilio receives only the contact information necessary to deliver that notification (e.g., phone number and/or email).

We do not sell shopper or merchant data, and we do not share data with third parties for advertising purposes.

05Data retention

We retain price-watch and order data for as long as the merchant's store has the App installed, or as needed to comply with legal obligations. When a merchant uninstalls the App, their store's data is deleted in accordance with Shopify's mandatory data retention requirements, unless we are required to retain it for legal reasons.

06Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. We comply with Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact) to support these rights. To make a request directly, contact us using the information below.

07Data security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we handle, including transmitting data over HTTPS and limiting access to only what the App needs to function.

08Children's privacy

Deal Dibs is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version.
